Daily Drawings (may 2009 to may 2010) one a day, 365 days.

 July 10
Cup of tea on the table (PG Tips of course), black sock on the foot, funny pouch thing (that many people insist on calling my murse) and extra key on the hook.  Nothing says home more than this combination.

 July 9
Lisa's pups! Super cute. Super licky.  Very loving and even more so forgiving.  Hollywood on top, Little dog (aka lolly) on bottom.  Woke up to many little presents while living with them and Lisa.  Camp out on the floor?  Good morning poo.  Sleeping on the couch bed?  dog at your feet and a poo on the top.  ha.  A small memory but an instant one from this image.  Fun times.

 July 8
Kasey sleeps on the couch.  The only time she couldn't stop me from drawing her was when she slept.  Too bad she's not more comfortable with the idea.  One day I hope.  She's a beautiful human being and I hope she someday realizes how very beautiful she really is.  One day.

 July 7
At the park, looking upon the humble teeny apartment.  There's a bird.

July 6
Lisa Huish.  Smoking a cig.  We'd been up a long time, not much sleep for months.  It's as if we would all just fade out after a while.......

Daily Drawings (may 2009 to may 2010) one a day, 365 days.

 July 5
Today I had the pleasure in drawing two drawings.  One in the car while driving down the freeway (can you guess which one?) and the other while at Ethan Walker's house off Piyuma Canyon.  Driving drawings are really fun and not as dangerous as one may imagine.  One hand on the wheel and the other on the page, blind contour style.  No need to look down, just out.  the eyes draw and the hand translates.  a difficult  yet beautiful relationship.  Not much different than with a woman come to think of it.  John Taylor sits at a table for fifteen minutes while I get his likeness down (plus extra huge arms).  Shading done afterward.

 July 4
For the holiday we went to see the fireworks up on a huge boulder off Stunt Road.  Love that spot.  Looks right down at Malibu and on to Santa Monica down the way.  John Taylor sits with Eva Green.  Darkness falls along with my right hand.
 July 3
Sean Stevens at the table with a beer.  He is a good man.  He lets me draw him with the up-most patience.  Giants fan that one is.  Huge fan.  I remember one of his stories about going to Dodger stadium when it was Dodgers vs. Giants and he painted his face orange, wore the full gear, and had a Giant orange hand....plus went in a state of mind not recognized in the state of California.  Inside joke I suppose.

 July 2
Ethan's House (Walker).  Piyuma Canyon.  Spent much time over there.  Drawing, enjoying the great outdoors, all the greenery; a mellow life to say the least. Only good memories come from that house.

July 1
Drawing and driving again.  Blind contour again.  Shading done once stopped.  Lines done while driving.  Either on the 101 or the 405.  Pretty much the same thing...a desert of concrete expanding thousands of miles, stretching across endless cities. It's almost as if it has no beginning, no ending...nowhere to go.

Daily Drawings (may 2009 to may 2010) one a day, 365 days.

June 30
Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood at the Hollywood Bowl.  An amazing concert to say the least.  It will never cease to amaze me when I am so lucky to listen to live music coming from those who I had only heard on cd....wonderful and enlightening. Inspirational in all forms of art and a deep breath comes in to my lungs.

June 29
This was a very exciting drawing to draw.  It gave me great pleasure to find more peace within the busy city.  All I had to do was look up as the sun was coming down.

June 28
Sometimes a good drawing can come from simply looking down.  Drawing me drawing.  My hair is coming in from the top but it's not very focused because I 'aint focusing on it...

June 27
Another parking lot.  So great.  So beautiful.  Peaceful, calm, relaxing.  For objects that are literally driven so far and worked so hard, they get to rest momentarily in these big blacktop lots and sit so organized.  One calm space within the galactic chaos that is the city...a rarity.
June 25
Went to Corey Klass's new apartment.  He and all his buddies over there just sat and played video games the whole time whilst drinking whiskey.  BORING. So I chose to draw instead.  Ben Greenspan is at the top, Corey is to the left bottom, and their friend Ben just shaved his head.  Documentation is a marvelous experience.  Never thought I could remember so much as when I look back on these drawings.
June 26
Can you find where this was drawn from?  well no, you can't.  It's in Westchester park across from my place once again but you won't find this exact view since they tore the benches down that I drew between.  Now there is some weird looking tent sun shields.

Daily Drawings (may 2009 to may 2010) one a day, 365 days.

June 24 (part II)
...For here we are, one day later when I decided to finish the piece.  I drew my buddy Eric Freedman today but you can see it on yesterday's fold.  Eric now works for Sublime as part of the production team.  He's loving it and his boss is named "Cheese".  Couldn't get better and more mellow than working for Cheese.  I hope it's brie or havarti....sorry I just had to be cheezy!  hah!

June 23 (part I)
And so the next day I decided I'd go back to the park and draw the school in which I go to...and so here it is.  But that wasn't quite enough....

June 22
Ethan came over one day in the summer.  We both like to draw, and so we went to the park across the street from my apartment and drew.  he drew me and I drew him.  an exchange of personal images i suppose.  Fun either way.
June 21
Father's Day.  That's the dad.  Nigel is his name.  He puts his hand on his face pretty much every time he watches the television.  It's like his signature move.  He's a good dad.  I love him as you may imagine.

June 19
Drew a house but hadn't enough time to finish that day.  Some days you're lagging.
June 20
My buddy's band played at another friend's birthday show.  Doodled them playing. Thumb print came from the bank.  They've got some ink on the counter so it only makes sense to take a thumb print...right?

Daily Drawings (may 2009 to may 2010) one a day, 365 days.

June 18
I know i looked like a creeper when i was in Whole Foods that day.  Just perched a spot for myself and began to draw.  45 minutes later I walked away, never to bee seen again...until one week later when I went shopping again.  It's all happening at register no. 9.  Can't you tell?

If you can't tell, this day is June 16
Apartment shot again.  Tiny piece of the Corbusier Chair.  love that thing!  you're looking at the "fake desk"  it's a real desk that is inlayed (wrong word in the context of the English language but such a great way to explain how this desk feels) into the cabinets.  Always wanted to use it but junk took over and claimed the land for itself...assholes.
June 17
Jenna Anderbery graduated that night.  SHe's my previous girlfriend's youngest sister.  Cool girl she is and is becoming.  I showed her some blues piano and she became obsessed with it and got pretty good...then eventually gave it up but now does fashion in highschool.  that last word should have been two words but it's always said together so why should they be apart?  Let the love flow between words..a synapse of letters.  Lovers needn't no space between them...well maybe sometimes.

June 14 (later that day once i'd slept)
Drew myself from looking down point of view...then decided to cover it up with a drawing of a "box chair" idea.   looks like a box,  unfolds into a chair.  vwalah!  sillynesss.
June 15
Westchester studio apartment.  that's the trash can.  used to rest by the stove but now it sits where I sat to draw it.  Wild fun playing house is.  Wild.

 June 13
Went to a bar in Santa Monica with my very good friend Efrat Sykoriev and her very good friend Sara Crane.  When the clock struck midnight Sara yelled out "happy birthday Efrat!!" and I then realized that I had once known Efrat's birthday and like a fool-a jerk-a bad friend I had forgotten.   Good thing I don't really feel that way and I know that Efrat doesn't care one bit.. we thought it was funny.  My mum's b-day is one month later so I always remember it that way...yea...this is useless info and i'ma stop now.  had a good night though.

Daily Drawings (may 2009 to may 2010) one a day, 365 days.

June 11
Sean Jen.  I knew this kid briefly over one semester.  We'd hang some times.  He would pay me $50 to drive him to games because he didn't have a car and didn't know LA very well at all.  Pretty nice gig I must say,  I would just sit and read, do my work, draw, etc. while waiting for him to be done with his games.  Went to Dodger Stadium, Staples Center, etc.
June 12
Haha i remember this day and it was pretty studpid/insane waiting for this thing...Facebook had a point in time when you could get your name as part of the website title.  I had recently joined a few groups consisting entirely of other Charlie Carroll's.  Being that my ego is bigger than one thousand suns, I decided that MY Charlie Carroll name must be superior to all the others by waiting until the very second when I could have MY title be facebook.com/charliecarroll!!! and it worked!  I was so excited, the world was mine for the taking!  None of the other few hundred Charlie Carroll's had shit on me cause I was THE charlie carroll now haha!  .....and then it dawned on me that I could have been THE CHARLIE and I totally fucked up by not waiting all that time to be the only charlie instead...  serves me right, right?

June 10 (still)
Up in the shop waiting for my chair to get CNC'd out.  That's the CNC machine to the right.  It's huge.  4'x8' does the trick most of the time.  LOVE that technology.   Such a sexy beast of a machine.

June 9
I don't even know what was going through my head that day.  Oh, sleep deprivation how I loathe thee...
June 10
I dreamed of doing this that night so I had to get up and do it.  Self portraits from memory of what I think I look like...sort of a cop-out since I have easy features to place on a blank face and call it myself.  Glasses, long curly hair, beared...i could probably add the same bits to Lady Gaga's face and people would recognize me still.

 June 7
Kelly Wescott sits playing video games whilst I sit and draw his face.  First time (and only time) I visited his place in Moorpark.  Funny how it's hard to even consider your friend's houses "homes" when they are young and living in apartments....just seems so temporary that i find it illogical to attach their faces to their places only to separate them over and over as the years go on and their places of residency change on a constant basis.  Did I just repeat myself i think i may have just repeated myself myself?...
June 8
Ryry Klass sits on the bench at the bottom of the hill on Mullholland at Miniholland where we climb them rocks.  Such a beautiful spot.  too bad some lame-o taggers decided to completely ruin the rocks with their spray paint, making it impossible to grip onto the slippery, congested volcanic rock.

Daily Drawings (may 2009 to may 2010) one a day, 365 days.

June 3
Lisa Huish at Lisa's house.  Her doppelganger on her side.  Trusty sewing machine behind.  TV watching as usual.  Oh, the good 'ol days.

**I just realized that I don't have to make new posts to place multiple images....ha.
June 4
Ethan Walker drawing at my place.  Wanted to do some watercolor that day.  Works out when your buddies like to draw too and they will just sit in one position for hours at a time.  opens up the possibilities.  Study with color, focus on the face and intensity of his drawing hand and concentration.

June 5
The guitars at the Westchester studio apt. (7075).  This was before Fu let me borrow his bass for a very long period of time. If I were to draw this same image today it would look a bit different.  I find the shape of the guitar rather difficult to draw for the curves must be perfectly placed in order to get the form to look convincing.
June 6
I went to my buddy Andrew Behjatnia's house in Woodland hills (i'm making that up cause i don't really remember where it was, I just remember the wooden fence in the front and the long stretch of street that it was on).  Some guy there commented to his friend that he purchased a baby extra-large t-shirt hoping that it would fit because it was the last size they had and he really liked the shirt!  haha.  Made me laugh, had to add it to the drawing.
